Asian Games: Aaron-Wooi Yik storm into quarter-finals

KUALA LUMPUR: There was more good news for Malaysia in the badminton competition at the Hangzhou Asian Games as men's pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik became the latest shuttlers to reach the quarter-finals.

Aaron-Wooi Yik were in their element as they outclassed Thailand's Supak Jomkoh-Kedren Kittinupong 21-12, 21-14 at Binjiang Gymnasium today.

They will face either reigning world champions Kang Min Hyuk-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea or China's Liu Yu Chen-Ou Xuan Yi tomorrow.

Aaron-Wooi Yik are determined to complete their medal collection at major games by finishing on the podium this week.

They won gold at the 2019 Manila Sea Games and bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Earlier, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Lee Zii Jia had also progressed into the last eight of the mixed doubles and men's singles.
