Zii Jia roars into final in Odense

KUALA LUMPUR: The last time Lee Zii Jia made two straight finals, he went on to win both titles.

History beckons after the 25-year-old men's singles player reached the final of the Denmark Open on Saturday.

Fresh from winning the Arctic Open title last week, a confident Zii Jia made easy work of Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu, winning 21-15, 21-17 in the semi-finals at the Jyske Bank Arena in Odense.

Zii Jia, the losing finalist from last year, will play China's Weng Hong Yang next.

Hong Yang had earlier dispatched his compatriot and last year's champion Shi Yuqi 21-19, 21-14 in the semi-finals.

Should Zii Jia come out tops in the final on Sunday, expect him to break into the world top 10 again next week.

Last year, Zii Jia was crowned Asian champion in May. He then went on to win the Super 500 Thailand Open a fortnight later.
