KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's men's pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik got their Kumamoto Masters campaign off to a flying start by stunning Taiwan's Olympic champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin 21-18, 21-14 in the first round today.
World No. 2 Aaron-Wooi Yik, playing in their first tournament since clinching the Denmark Open title last month, will play Japan's Akira Koga-Taichi Saito next.
It was, however, the end of the road for Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani who lost 21-19, 21-14 to Indonesia's Rahmat Hidayat-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
Independents Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi will play Thailand's Pharanyu Kaosamaang-Worrapol Thongsa Nga tomorrow for a place in the quarter-finals.
