Coach Hendrawan denies he's leaving BAM

KUALA LUMPUR: National men's singles coach Hendrawan has quashed rumours that he will leave the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) before the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On Monday, the Indonesian stressed that he remains committed to guiding world No 14 men's singles shuttler Ng Tze Yong to the Olympics next year.

Hendrawan, a former world champion, has been handling Tze Yong for the last two years.

"I have a clear mission with Tze Yong. I remain committed to my responsibility of guiding Tze Yong for the Olympics in Paris," Hendrawan said.

The 51-year-old Hendrawan, who was instrumental in helping former world No 1 Lee Chong Wei bag the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics, is focussed on the task ahead and determined to help Tze Yong.

"The ongoing qualifying process is extremely competitive and Tze Yong does not need any distractions at this stage.

"Together, we are determined to achieve our goals," added Hendrawan, who has been attached to the national body since 2009.

The other men's singles coaches in BAM are Tey Seu Bock and James Chua.
