Selangor to host Asia Team Championships for second consecutive year

KUALA LUMPUR: Fans can expect a series of top-class action next year, after Badminton Asia (BA) confirmed that the Asia Team Championships (BATC) will be held in Malaysia again.

The biennial continental championships, also serving as a qualifier for the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals, will be held in Selangor from Feb 13-18 for the second straight year.

Last year, the Malaysian men's team, led by Lee Zii Jia, clinched their maiden team title, while the women's team secured their place in the Uber Cup Finals on merit after reaching the semi-finals.

BA secretary general, Datuk Kenny Goh said: "We eagerly look forward to seeing fans in Selangor to witness all the action following the 2024 Malaysia Open in Kuala Lumpur."

The 2024 season will kick off with the Super 1000 Malaysia Open on Jan 9-14 at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil.

Kenny, also the BA of Malaysia secretary-general, said the Asian team meet will most likely be held once again at the Setia City Convention Centre in Shah Alam.

The top four teams from both the men's and women's events will qualify for the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in China on April 28-May 5.
