Aaron-Wooi Yik smash into semis of India Open

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 4 Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik took a step closer towards their second World Tour victory after cruising into semi-finals of the India Open on Friday.

Aaron-Wooi Yik showed nerves of steel to beat their once bogeymen from China, Ou Xuan Yi-Liu Yu Chen, 21-19, 21-19 in the closely contested clash.

Their victory ensured Malaysia's challenge in the Super 750 tournament intact after Lee Zii Jia and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai were eliminated earlier in the day.

Aaron-Wooi Yik will face India Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty or Denmark's Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the last four on Saturday.

A win for Aaron-Wooi Yik will see them reach their second final in as many years after having finished runners-up last year.

Aaron-Wooi Yik had only won once on the World Tour thus far, winning the Denmark Open in October last year.
