Shuttlers, Letshanaa and Jun Hao reach Indonesia Open main draw

KUALA LUMPUR: K. Letshanaa and former Asian junior champion Leong Jun Hao recorded come-from-behind victories on Tuesday to reach the main draw of the Super 500 Indonesia Masters in Jakarta.

In the men's singles qualifying round, Jun Hao dominated Singapore's Jason Teh with a 21-12, 21-12 victory.

The 2023 Super 100 KL Masters champion then clawed back from a first-game blemish to down Brazil's Ygor Coelho 15-21, 22-20, 21-16.Jun Hao will take on Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the first round on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Letshanaa was pleased with her performance after coming from behind to oust Thailand's Pornpicha Choeikeewong 16-21, 21-14, 21-11 in the women's singles qualifying round.

In her post-match interview with SpoTV, Letshanaa said: "I'm very happy with my game today.

"I did really well to win the match, and I hope to ride on this momentum when I play in the main draw."

Letshanaa will play Indonesia's Putri Kusuma Wardani in the opening round.

In the men's doubles qualifying round, independent duo Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong lost 21-19, 21-19 to China's Xie Hao Nan-Zeng Wei Han.
