Zii Jia outplays former world champ Kean Yew in All England

KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 10 Lee Zii Jia was in imperious form as he outclassed Singapore's Loh Kean Yew to reach the quarter-finals of the All England today.

Zii Jia secured a dominant 21-15, 21-12 victory at Arena Birmingham to make it four wins on the trot against Kean Yew, the 2021 world champion.

The result also saw Zii Jia keep his fine record intact at the world's oldest badminton tournament, and he is just one win away from reaching his fifth semi-finals in as many editions.

Zii Jia will face either Denmark's Anders Antonsen or India's Lakhsya Sen tomorrow.

However, mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei were a big letdown.

Just a day after their stunning win over Thailand's Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai, the world No. 9 were handed a reality check by Dutch pair Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek in a 17-21, 21-19, 21-16 loss.

It was also the end of the road for Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing who were defeated 21-17, 21-11 by Hong Kong's Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet.

Like Tang Jie-Ee Wei, Kian Meng-Pei Jing also failed to build on their momentum following their victory over the more fancied Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue of France.
