Trophy in the bag: It's an all-Malaysian final at the Swiss Open [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will come home with both a champion and runner-up in the mixed doubles at the Swiss Open later today in an all-Malaysian final.

Just earlier, mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie had successfully secured their spots in the final after overcoming their respective opponents in the semi-finals.

In the matches held at St Jakobshalle in Basel, Soon Huat-Shevon advanced to the final for the third consecutive time after defeating the Dutch pair, Robin Tabeling-Selena Piek, 21-18, 21-16.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei had no trouble defeating the Taiwanese pair, Ye Hong Wei-Lee Chia Hsin, 21-16, 21-12, thus advancing to the final for the first time in this Super 300 tournament.

Tonight's encounter presents an opportunity for Soon Huat-Shevon to redeem themselves after experiencing disappointment in the last two editions, where they only emerged as runners-up after losing in the final stage.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei, on the other hand, are on a mission to pursue their first title of the season, with their best achievement being runners-up in the Thailand Masters last month.

Their head-to-head record shows that both Malaysian pairs are tied at 1-1, with the last encounter favoring Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who defeated Soon Huat-Shevon at the Kumamoto Masters in Japan last year.
