Najib cycles after fourth gold at Para KL2017

KUALA LUMPUR: After securing his third victory in Putrajaya today, national rider Mohd Najib Turano is now determined to win a fourth gold medal at the Kuala Lumpur Asean Para Games (Para KL2017).

Najib, who won two gold in the track cycling discipline earlier in the competition, eased to the men's individual time trial C4 (lower limb impairments) road event gold after clocking 17 minutes and 56.306 seconds.

Indonesian Muhammad Fadli Imammuddin came in second on a distant 8:16.930s while Filipino Godfrey Ezperanzate Taberna (18:47.586s) completed the podium.

Najib said he was happy to be able to deliver the goods but stressed that his job is not done yet.

"This (road time trial) is one of the events in which we were expected to win the gold so there was no room for failure," said the 30-year-old.

"My focus now is on the mass start road race (49.2km) tomorrow and it is important that I am well prepared for it.

"I believe all riders have a reasonably even chance of winning and it will come down to strategy and the conditions on the day itself."

Najib had won the 1km time trial and 4km pursuit in the track events held at the National Velodrome in Nilai.
