Azizulhasni's reign as world keirin champion ends

KUALA LUMPUR: Azizulhasni Awang failed to defend his men's keirin title when the cyclist was ousted from the repechage round at the World Track Championships in the Netherlands on Thursday.

Earlier, the Malaysian was placed third in the sixth heat of the first round won by Colombian Fabian Hernando Puertas Zapati.

He needed to win the repechage to make the second round.

However, Azizulhasni finished second behind World No1 Andrii Vynokurov of Ukraine.

Compatriot Shah Firdaus Sahrom also failed to go beyond the repechage.
