Cyclist Shah Firdaus wins keirin silver in Cairo

KUALA LUMPUR: Cyclist Shah Firdaus Sahrom served a surprise by winning the keirin silver at the UCI Track Nations Cup in Cairo on Thursday.

Japanese riders Shinji Nakano and Kaiya Ota took gold and bronze respectively at the Cairo International Velodrome.

The 27-year-old Malaysian missed out on a podium finish in the first leg following a nasty crash in Jakarta last month.

Former world keirin No.1 Azizulhasni Awang won the keirin silver in Jakarta but had to withdraw from the Cairo leg after picking up an adductor injury.
