Mazlan appointed as MNCF acting president, Amarjit steps up to acting deputy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia National Cycling Federation's (MNCF) Mazlan Md Jail will be the national body's acting president until the end of the 2023-2026 term.

The MNCF executive committee unanimously agreed to appoint Mazlan and Datuk Amarjit Singh Gill as acting president and acting deputy president, respectively, until the end of the 2026 term during a special meeting in Melaka today.

The president's post was vacant following the demise of long-serving MNCF president Datuk Abu Samah Wahab on Nov 28. Abu Samah had served as president since 1990.

Mazlan, who was elected deputy president during MNCF's annual general meeting in February, expressed his readiness to assume the role.

"I intend to be the acting president until the end of the term," said Mazlan.

Amarjit, who was elected vice-president one during the elections in February, thanked the committee for their unanimous support.

"I will work closely with the acting president and the others to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the betterment of the MNCF," Amarjit said.

Amarjit, who is also a UCI management committee member, added that strengthening MNCF's finances would be a key focus for the national body.
