Kedah, Pahang win FA Cup semi-final first leg matches

KUALA LUMPUR: Farhan Roslan's second half goal earned Kedah a 1-0 win over Terengganu in the FA Cup semi-final first leg match in Alor Star on Sunday.

In Kuantan, Pahang dominated play in the 1-0 win over Premier League side Negri Sembilan, courtesy of Ashaari Samsudin's goal nine minutes from time.

Kedah's win is their first in five matches in all competitions. It also marked caretaker coach Nidzam Adzha Yusoff's first match following the departure of Tan Cheng Hoe.

Nidzam's side were a better team but poor finishing and the brilliance of Terengganu goalkeeper Amierul Hakimi Awang denied them a bigger win.

Farhan, who came on for Brazilian Sandro Mendonca in the 69th minute fired home from his first touch off a Ken Ilso pass for the goal.

Terengganu received a blow in the 79th minute when defender Adib Aizuddin Latiff received his marching orders for a second yellow card.

Terengganu will entertain Kedah in the return leg in Kuala Terengganu on May 13 and the Premier League side will definitely fancy their chance of overturning the result and making it into the finals.

Negri will host Pahang in the other semi-final return leg match in Paroi on the same day.
