Super League round up: JDT open up 11-point lead as Kedah drop points

KUALA LUMPUR: Darul Ta’zim extended their lead in the Super League to 11 points when the former AFC Cup champions defeated Sarawak 3-1 at Larkin Stadium on Saturday.

Second-place Kedah dropped points following a 1-1 draw with Selangor in Alor Star.

With only six matches remaining, Darul Ta’zim are now expected to win their fourth straight league crown.

Mohammed Ghaddar’s double in the 11th and 75th minute, as well as substitute Safawi Rasid’s goal in the 78th minute earned Darul Ta’zim their 12th league win as Sarawak replied through Singapore international Sahil Suhaimi in the 64th minute.

In Alor Star, S. Veenod put Selangor ahead in the 23rd minute before Dane Ken Ilso netted his 10th league goal seven minutes later for Kedah, who now have 28 points.

Pahang remained third with 27 points following a 3-1 with over PKNS at Shah Alam Stadium.

Mohamadou Sumareh opened for Pahang with his fifth league goal in the 36th minute before Brazilian Matheus Alves added a brace in the 62nd and 70th minutes. Alif Haikal responded for PKNS in the 82nd minute.

Felda United maintained their consistency by thrashing T-Team 5-1 in Jengka.

Brazilian Thiago Fernandes scored a hat-trick in the 48th, 59th and 79th minutes for Felda while other two goals were scored by Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor (24th) and Ifedayo Olusegun (89th). Joseph Yannick netted for T-Team in the 42nd minute.

B. Sathianathan’s side are now fifth with 26th points.

In Kota Baru, Perak defeated Kelantan 2-0 courtesy of goals by Nazrin Nawi (29th) and Yashir Pinto (80th).

At Hang Jebat Stadium, bottom-side Penang earned only their second league win of the season with a 3-2 success over Melaka.

Faiz Subri (fifth), Mark Hartmann (54th) and S. Kumaahran (60th) netted for Penang while Marko Simic scored a double both from penalty kicks in the 35th and 89th minutes.
