KL2017: Thai defender says not worried about Thanabalan

KUALA LUMPUR: Thailand are not worried about N. Thanabalan.

Defender Worawut Namvech said he is confident the team will be able to control Thanabalan when Malaysia clashes with Thailand for the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games football gold on Tuesday.

The Sisaket FC player said Thailand have played Malaysia a number of times during which Thanabalan was unable to make an impact.

"I am not worried about No 12 (Thanabalan) as we have faced him before and managed to control him," said Worawut.

"We have played Malaysia many times and beat them 3-0 last month in the AFC Cup in Bangkok.

"No 12 (Thanabalan) also played in that match and I blocked his every move.

"I am very confident I can do it again even though he has become very popular due to the goals he has scored at KL2017."

Worawut added that he is more worried about Johor Darul Ta'zim's (Johor DT) Safawi Rasid who is known for his powerful shooting and individual skills.

"To me No 6 (Safawi) is more dangerous than No 12. We need to make sure he does not have the chance to shoot."
