KUALA LUMPUR: The Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia (PFAM) acknowledged they have received an official complaint about salaries owed to Kuantan FA players.
PFAM Chief Executive Izham Ismail said the complaint was forwarded by a few Kuantan FA players yesterday.
He said PFAM will send an official letter to Kuantan FA requesting for an explanation from the Premier League side.
“Yes we have it, a few Kuantan FA players lodged an official complaint yesterday. I cannot divulge as to how many players and how much in total is owed to them because in terms of documentation it’s still incomplete.
“We will send an official letter of notice to Kuantan FA by this week itself before the case is brought to the FA of Malaysia,” he said when contacted yesterday.
It has been reported that Kuantan FA have the ignominy of being the first M-League team that have failed to pay their players their salaries for 11 months.
What makes it even sadder is that some of the affected players have fallen on hard times, and forced to do part-time work including being delivery workers to support their families.
Kuantan FA, who have been in the Premier League since 2015, however, have assured they will resolve the salary arrears issue as soon as possible.
