Faiz Subri says his world goal is incomparable with Giroud's Scorpion kick

PENANG: Malaysia’s Faiz Subri, who won the 2016 Fifa Puskas award for goal of the year, said his wonder strike is incomparable to Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud’s 2017 winner.

Faiz said his physics-defying free kick and Giroud’s Scorpion kick were fantastic in their own way.

“I cannot compare my goal with his (Giroud’s) because my goal was from a dead ball,” said Faiz today.

Giroud, on Monday, won the Fifa Puskas award for the best goal of the year for his stunning scorpion kick against Crystal Palace at a star-studded Fifa awards in London.

Penang player Faiz won the 2016 Fifa Puskas award after his physics-defying free kick goal against Pahang in a Super League match at City Stadium.

Faiz said he was happy for Frenchman Giroud for winning the award this year.

"Firstly I want to congratulate Giroud for winning the award.”

“He deserved to receive the Fifa award because it was a unique goal in itself.

Faiz added that his and Giroud’s wonder goals may not be repeated or seen again.

On his future, Faiz said if Penang, who were relegated to the re Premier League, offer him a new contract, he will remain with the island team.

Otherwise, he has to look for another team to continue his career.
