Kedah fan club urges Ridzwan to 'man up'

KUALA LUMPUR: “If someone sues for RM200,000, and seven people sue for RM1.4 million, then where is he going to find that much money to pay up?

This is the question put forth by the Kedah Supporters Fan Club (KEPDA) president, Nor Asmadi Hamzah following the desire of six Kedah players who want to sue Facebook user, Muhammad Ridzwan following bribery allegations he threw at them and Kedah coach Nidzam Adzha Yusoff.

Therefore, KEPDA are advising Ridzwan to come forward in person and openly apologise to Nidzam and the six players in efforts to find a resolution and amicable closure to the issue.

Asmadi is of the opinion that this is the best way and last resort for Ridzwan after his video apology was rejected as insincere by them.

At the same time, Asmadi is also hoping that Nidzam and the six players - Khairul Helmi Johari, Rizal Ghazali, Syazwan Zainon, Amirul Hisham Awang Kechik, Arif Farhan Md Isa and Ifwat Akmal Chek Kassim will be able to accept such a move to apologise if Ridzwan dares to do so and face the seven of them face-to-face.

“Ridzwan is not a member of KEPDA, in fact personally I do not know who he is. But as supporters from the team’s fan club, we hope this issue does not drag on to court and is able to be resolved amicably.

“We can understand Nidzam, Keon (Khairul Helmi) and the rest of their colleagues feelings when they are accused just like that. It is an over-the-top accusation that has gone too far.

“But, I believe that the individual who leveled such accusations against them did so rashly out of frustration when Kedah lost the Malaysia Cup final to Johor Darul Ta’zim. I am sure that now he realises what a mistake he made and regrets it,” said Asmadi.

Previously, Khairul who who popularly know as Keon, rejected Ridzwan’s video apology because he felt it was insincere after Ridzwan concealed his true identity in the said video by wearing a cap, sun glasses and face mask.

Keon stressed that he will go ahead and take legal action against Ridzwan and seek damages of at least RM200,000.

Meanwhile Nidzam said that he will seek advice from his legal counsel first before taking any action following the release of the video apology by Ridzwan.

“I really hope that this issue will serve as a stern reminder and warning to be very careful when making comments or statements, and not to be rash about it as the consequences could be severe,” said Asmadi.
