JDT wary of Kedah's threat

JOHOR BARU: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) will be taking a cautious approach when they entertain Kedah in Saturday's Super League-cum-Charity Shield match at Larkin Stadium.

JDT coach Ulisses Morais said his players have put aside last week's 5-2 AFC Champions League defeat to Thailand's Muangthong United and are now preparing diligently for the Super League's season opening match.

"Things are good in training. We are rectifying shortcomings and the players are responding well to our tactical philosophy," said Morais.

"I expect a high intensity match against Ramon Marcote's side on Saturday.

"The season opening match is important for both teams. Kedah have quality and we need to prepare well.

"I believe we will hold a slight advantage as we are playing at home but we cannot be complacent."

Morais said JDT must find a way to stop Kedah's aggressive play from the flanks and short passing game.

"However, Kedah may play a different style under new coach Marcote. We need to be ready for all possibilities," he said.

Morais added that defender Marcos Antonio, who suffered a knee injury last season, could be fielded on Saturday as the Brazilian has been exceptional in training.
