Felda eye Premier League crown

KUALA LUMPUR: Felda United believe they can make a swift return to the Super League by winning the Premier League crown in the upcoming season.

Felda president Datuk Ab Ghani Mohd Ali said his team have the depth to do well in the Premier League.

He hopes Felda players will do their best to regain the club’s Super League status, although the budget for the upcoming season has been slashed.

Felda finished third in the Super League in 2017 but were demoted to the second-tier competition after they were not granted a club licence for failing to meet the league’s financial criteria.

“Let’s forget about why we were demoted. We just focus on the new season and try our best to win a title and earn a promotion spot.

“Our target is definitely the Premier League and anything more will be a bonus.

“We have a budget of RM15 million to manage our Premier League, President’s Cup, Youth Cup teams. It also includes other expenses,” said Ghani at the unveiling of the Felda team on Monday.

On a separate note, Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad reminded the club to expand their grassroots programme among the Felda community.
