Penang secure first Premier League win.

BATU KAWAN: Azinee Taib’s brace earned Penang a 2-1 win over newcomers Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at the State Stadium on Tuesday for their first Premier League success of the season.

Azinee, who returned to Penang following a stint with Johor Darul Ta’zim last season, netted in the 24th and 74th minutes.

Mohd Faidzol Fazreen Shamsudin scored a consolation for UKM in the 88th minute.

Penang coach Zainal Abidin Hassan said the win eases pressure after the 3-1 defeat to Universiti Teknoloji Mara (UiTM) last weekend.

“I made some tactical changes and it paid dividends. I hope the team can build from this win for upcoming matches,” said Zainal.

UKM coach Sulaiman Hussin said: “We did better after the breather but it was not enough to earn at least a point.”

“Things are not good as it was our second successive defeat in the league.

“We conceded easy goals and paid the price,” said Sulaiman.

In another Premier League match, Kuantan FA were held 1-1 by MISC-MIFA at the Selayang Stadium.
