Troublemakers beware

KUALA LUMPUR: Any troublemaker who causes problems at a stadium will have to think twice from now on as the FA of Malaysia (FAM) have come up with a new idea to address and deal with such problematic football fans.

FAM Security and Safety Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Zulkifli Abdullah confirmed that the national footballing body have identified certain individuals, especially heads of supporters groups that have a record in disturbing the peace before this.

“This is just one of the steps taken to ensure that chaos and other related problems in stadiums can be addressed and dealt with, and we do actually have information about such groups of fans.

“If needed, we will recommend to State FA’s for further action to be taken, and perhaps we will even advise that such troublemakers be barred from entering the stadium in the future.

“Whatever it is, for the time being, I do not want to reveal who these supporters groups are and from which state they are from because there has been no incidents reported for now.

“We do keep record of fans that have a tendency of causing trouble and if they do end up doing so, we will reveal their identities and the respective FA’s involved will end up facing a fine,” he said when met during the 2018 FAM Football Seminar on Safety held at the Royal Malaysian Police Training Academy here earlier today.

At the same time, Zulkifli also explained that the committee will carry out visits to each and every stadium across the country to inspect and ascertain the level of safety.

“If there are stadiums that are found to be lacking in terms of safety, then we will advise for immediate remedial action be taken to avoid any untoward incidents from happening.

“This is also to ensure that the information disseminated during today’s (Wednesday) seminar is put to practice to improve the level of safety and each and every stadium,” he said.
