Football teams won't cry foul

THE Malaysian Football League (MFL) may have made an unpopular decision but the teams affected will not cry foul.

On Saturday, MFL announced they would not be paying the second installment of the broadcasting rights money to the 24 teams in the M-League.

Felda United secretary general Afizal Abu Othman said: “Rather than looking for fault, I think we should all move forward with the preparations for next season.

“We, as stakeholders, need to continue our support for the MFL and assist especially in giving proposals and ideas for the betterment of the league.”

Perak FA honorary secretary Mohamad Azlin Mohd Nadzri said they are preparing a proactive plan for next year.

“We can’t say we didn’t receive anything because all the teams have been given the first payment.

“We believe the MFL will strive to help all the stakeholders next season.

“Based on what happened this year, Perak are ready for any possibilities to ensure our team are not affected at the last minute.”

FA of Selangor secretary general Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon admitted that the Red Giants will feel the pinch but said they will work hard to find sponsors.

Despite facing financial issue, MFL managed to distribute a total of RM24 million in broadcasting rights to the teams on July 15.

However, the 12 Super League teams got RM1.5 million each (instead of RM3 million) and the 12 Premier League teams received RM500,000 each (instead of RM1 million).
