TMJ admits to fans he prefers polo to football

Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim interacted with fans in a Q&A session on social media yesterday. The topics ranged from football to his personal life.

Though the Johor Crown Prince is known for the rise of JDT, he admitted to preferring polo to football.

When asked about his "achievements in life," Tunku Ismail said: "Too many. Winning over 50 international polo tournaments. Multiple success with JDT in football. Setting up JMF (Royal Johor Military Force) Elite Force, military training in India and leading the Indian army in the National Day Parade. State duties."

When asked about his best moment as JDT owner, Tunku Ismail, 36, said: "Winning (the) AFC Cup (in 2015)."

To another question, the former FAM president said Hariss Harun is his favourite Singaporean footballer.

He posted a gif indicating a crazy, nonsensical person when asked what he thought of his former player, Jorge Pereyra Diaz.

The Argentine forward, who played for JDT between 2014 and 2018, is speculated to be making a return to the M-League after Sabah FC coach Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto was reported to have said Diaz's style of play is suitable for the Rhinos.

Tunku Ismail was also asked about the FA of Selangor (he had slammed several of their officials last year). After he was asked why 'he hates Selangor', TMJ replied: "I don't hate Selangor. I hate some fake people in FAS."

Last year, Timesport reported that Tunku Ismail took several individuals to task, who he said, have been lying to FAS president Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

On Kelantan FC owner Norizam Tukiman who has criticised FAM and the Malaysian Football League on Facebook, Tunku Ismail said: "To me, he is a businessman, nothing else, that's all."

On the international front, Tunku Ismail revealed that Jose Mourinho is his favourite football manager. "Because he is a real winner and he is real/honest."

However, the JDT owner couldn't choose between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp.

"I like both. Guardiola for his obsession with winning and methods, Klopp for his man management skill."

Tunku Ismail is also a believer of "actions speak louder than words" as he answered frankly what he thought of certain politicians.

After Tunku Ismail rebranded JDT in 2013, the club have produced seven Super League titles, five Charity Shields, two Malaysia Cups and an FA Cup.

JDT are also the first team in Southeast Asia to win the AFC Cup after beating Tajikistan's Istiklol 1-0 in the final in Dushanbe in 2015.
