Terengganu's Markless Komii won the AFF Beach Soccer Festival in Pattaya on Thursday, but the achievement was not without controversy.
Markless Komii beat Thailand B 5-3 in added time after the match had ended 3-3 in regulation time.
It is learnt that FAM did not send their national team to the competition due to time constraint.
However, some quarters had accused FAM of being unsupportive of the Malaysian representative for the competition. Timesport could not get comments from FAM on the issue.
Markless Komii coach, Wan Adremy Indera Wan Adnan, said some of the players were earlier preparing for the Malaysia Games.
Wan Adremy, who coached the national side to their maiden AFF Beach Soccer Championship title in 2014, said: "Our players are often playing together because we live near the beach."
Team captain Zaharim Yusof was named Man of the Match at the AFF Beach Soccer Festival while Norazman A Bakar won the Golden Boot (six goals).
