Dollah: I am not a magician

KUALA LUMPUR: Pahang caretaker coach Dollah Salleh claims he is no magician as the Elephants recorded their third straight win in the Super League by hammering PJ City FC 3-0 at MBPJ Stadium on Tuesday.

Abdul Malik Mat Ariff (27th minute), Steven Rodriguez (45th) and Manuel Hidalgo (90th) scored for Pahang, who are sixth in the standings with 17 points from 14 matches.

Dollah was appointed caretaker coach on July 21 after the resignation of Frenchman Christophe Gamel.

And since his appointment, Pahang have won three matches on the trot without conceding a goal.

Dollah, 58, is not new to Pahang. The former international guided the team to the 2013 Malaysia Cup and 2018 FA Cup titles.

Dollah did not want to take all the credit for Pahang's sudden rise. He also praised technical advisor Fandi Ahmad, and coaches Ahmad Yusof dan Ahmad Shaharuddin Rosdi for their assistance.

"I want to congratulate the players on this win. They did everything according to the plan today (Tuesday)," said Dollah after the match.

"It is not all about me. Credit must also go to Fandi and the other coaches. We work together as a team and channel our energy to help the players get good results.

"We combine our ideas and come up with effective strategies for the team."

"We knew PJ City would be defensive, so we used our flankers to penetrate their backline for the goals."

Dollah said: "While it is good that we are sixth in the table, we still have to work on our consistency to make more inroads."

Pahang will play Melaka United on Saturday, followed by Penang on Aug 18 and Terengganu on Aug 21.

"I do not want to get excited and claim that Pahang are on their way to regaining their glory days. It is still early days, and we still have a long way to go," he added.
