JDT win Super League title again

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) captured their 11th consecutive Super League title today following Sabah's 2-0 loss to Terengganu.

With their 5-0 home win over Negri Sembilan, JDT have 46 points after 18 games, giving them an unassailable lead over closest challengers Sabah (36 points), Terengganu (35) and Melaka (35). JDT have four games remaining, one more than the three teams.

At Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, JDT confirmed their Super League title with an energetic display that saw them bury Negri with a brace each from Arif Aiman Hanapi (36th and 49th minutes) and Bergson Da Silva (61st and 88th) while Leandro Velazquez also scored in the 38th minute.

Meanwhile Tan Cheng Hoe made an instant impact in his debut as Selangor coach as the Red Giants crushed Melaka 5-0 at MBPJ Stadium.

Selangor captain Brendan Gan scored a brace in the 66th and 78th minutes after they had gone ahead earlier through Norhakim Hassan (16th) and Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi (32nd).

Herlison Caion got Selangor's fifth goal in the 90th minute.
