Pan Gon admits Harimau are still a bit wobbly

KUALA LUMPUR: Though Harimau Malaya seemed sure-footed in their convincing 4-0 win over Cambodia in a friendly at the National Stadium on Friday, Kim Pan Gon said his team were still a bit wobbly.

The Korean, who was appointed as national coach in February, is preparing Malaysia for the AFF Cup.

He said minor tweaks need to be made to the team, but he is proud of their performance against Cambodia.

On target for Malaysia were captain Faisal Halim (11th minute and 45th), Lee Tuck (38th) and Stuart Wilkin (86th).

"We need to improve our physical level... some players were tired," said Pan Gon.

"At the beginning, our players were a bit wobbly but they adapted after five to 10 minutes."

World No 146th Malaysia could gain up to 10 ranking points from the win over 177th ranked Cambodia.

Naturalised players Stuart Wilkin and Lee Tuck scored a goal each in their debuts for Malaysia against Cambodia.

Tuck found the mark in the 38th minute while Stuart scored in the 86th.

Midfielder Stuart, who is of English-Malaysian ancestry, said he probably wouldn't have gotten the opportunity to play if the "regulars" were around.

"It feels amazing, like a dream for me to score in my debut, and I'm proud to represent Malaysia," said Stuart, who was also named Man of the Match.

England-born midfielder Tuck said: "Those who have already played in the national team, guided us."
