Harimau Malaya fume at Coldplay

The Coldplay concert at the National Stadium on Nov 22 may result in only limited seats for football fans if Harimau Malaya decide to play their 2027 Asian Cup qualifying match at the same venue a day before.

On Jan 7, only 21,000 seats were available when Malaysia took on Thailand in the AFF Cup semi-finals as concert organisers had to prepare the venue for the Jay Chou event.

FA of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Amin said he has met Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh and will find a solution with the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (MSC).

"We have a contract with MSC which states that the venue should be available for Harimau Malaya matches during the Fifa calendar. If this always happens, then better not to have a contract with the corporation," said Hamidin.

"We will appeal and see whether the pitch is available on Nov 21. We will do it after the draw in July."
