Seniority is not a priority for Soleen

KUALA LUMPUR: It's not who you are, it's how much you have played.

Coach Soleen Al-Zoubi, who has only four days to prepare the Malayan Tigress for the Women's International Football Friendly Championship on Sept 18-30 in Riyadh, will give priority to players with more "playing minutes" than seniority.

"We need to bring in players with 'more minutes' because they are prepared. I don't need time to prepare them, physically from the beginning. We're playing in a high-level tournament," said the former Jordan FA women's football director.

The 25-member team held their first day of training in Bukit Jelutong today.

Soleen said she expects a better performance from the women's team after their fourth placing in Group A of the Phnom Penh Sea Games in May.

Malaysia, in Group A, will play hosts Saudi Arabia on Sept 18 and Pakistan on Sept 21 at the King Fadh Sports City Stadium. Laos, Lebanon and Bhutan are in Group B.
