KUALA LUMPUR: Captain Steffi Sarge Kaur scored the winner just before half-time as Malaysia beat hosts Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the Women's International Friendly Tournament in Taif on Saturday.
Malaysia finished third behind Lebanon and Bhutan. Lebanon beat Bhutan 4-1 in the final.
Malaysia coach Soleen Al-Zoubi said: "The girls rewarded themselves with what they deserved. I'm happy with the third place finish.
"This is a good result in our first international friendly. We have promising stars."
Malaysia goalkeeper Azurin Mazlan was also named as the competition's best goalkeeper with four clean sheets.
