KUALA LUMPUR: Spanish coach Juan Torres Garrido is poised to be unveiled as the new head coach of the national Under-23 team, a position left vacant by E. Elavarasan.
Garrido previously served as an assistant to Elavarasan before the latter's recent departure.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) is expected to confirm this appointment tomorrow.
"We will make the official announcement soon, as the new coach needs to prepare the team for the Under-23 Asian Cup from April 15-May 3 in Qatar," said team manager Datuk Sri Shahril Mokhtar today.
Former national captain Shukor Adan is set to join as an assistant to Garrido. Shukor currently holds a coaching role with KL City.
