Venezeulean Bidoglio returns as JDT's head coach

KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) today announced that their technical director, Hector Bidoglio, will return as the head coach for the 2024-2025 M-League season following the exit of Esteban Solari.

This was announced by the Southern Tigers' chief executive officer Alistair Edwards in a statement.

Venezeulean Bidoglio, 55, will be assisted by Aidil Zafuan Radzak, 36, who will retire as a player.

Argentine Solari, who coached JDT to the Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup titles this season, parted company with the Southern Tigers yesterday.

"He (Bidoglio) will be assisted by Pablo Ricchetti, who was also assistant coach last season and a new assistant coach from Argentina in addition to several coaches including fitness and media staff," said Edwards.

"Aidil will also join Bidoglio's coaching staff.

"Bidoglio had a brief stint as JDT head coach from July-November 2022 before becoming JDT technical director. He guided the Southern Tigers to the Malaysia Super League, Malaysia Cup and FA Cup last year.

"He rose through the ranks as coach with Argentine club Newell's Old Boys. He had previously coached in the top divisions in Argentina, Peru and Ecuador."

Bidoglio, who was previously attached to Spanish clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Real Betis, worked under Marcelo Bielsa with the Chile national team in 2009.
