Football stars gather at Dubai International Sports Conference, Globe Soccer Awards

DUBAI: The 18th edition of the Dubai International Sports Conference, along with the 14th edition of the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, supported by Dubai Sports Council, is set to take place at Nakheel's Atlantis, The Palm on Friday.

Over 1,000 guests will gather for an elegant night at the five-star venue on Palm Jumeirah, one of the world's largest man-made islands, developed by Dubai-based real estate developer Nakheel, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The event will bring together various international superstars, including representatives from European champions Manchester City, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni, Brazil captain Casemiro, Italian veteran coach Fabio Capello, former England captain John Terry, and other high-profile figures from global football clubs and organisations.

Organised under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, the Dubai International Sports Conference will coincide with the Globe Soccer Awards 2023.

These awards, initiated in 2010, unite prominent figures in football for a celebratory evening across domestic, regional, and international levels.

The co-located Conference serves as a platform for the industry to discuss key issues in the sport.

This year's summit focuses on "Sustainability and Performance in Football," aligning with the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards and a pioneering partnership announcement with Neutral Carbon Zone.

This collaboration marks the beginning of Globe Soccer's journey to #NetZero, starting with the World's First Carbon Neutral Soccer Awards.

The event will feature 18 main awards, covering categories such as Best Men's Player, Best Woman's Player, Best Men's Club, Best Woman's Club, Fans' Favourite Player, along with five digital awards and two inaugural Serie A accolades.

During the nomination process, a new record was set with a total of over 70 million votes, double the number from 2022.

The new Globe Soccer mobile application recorded an unprecedented number of downloads, with 1.5 million people registering their votes on the dedicated app. — Bernama
