Harimau forward Darren puts trust in Pan Gon's coaching staff

DOHA: Forward Darren Lok has the utmost trust in the Harimau Malaya coaching staff picked by coach Kim Pan Gon, stating that while they can plan, football is unpredictable.

Malaysia, who lost 4-0 to Jordan in their opening Asian Cup Group E match on Monday, will play Bahrain today and South Korea on Jan 25.

Ranked 130th in the world, Malaysia aim to secure a spot among the top four third-placed teams from Group A to Group F to qualify for the last 16 in Doha.

With a solid backroom staff, the 32-year-old is optimistic that Harimau Malaya will perform well in their final two group matches.

"We have a team and staff with specific tasks of analysing data," said Darren.

"Whatever else stays within the team, but we know we have a tough task ahead. The first game against Jordan did not go as planned, but we have analysed things that went wrong.

"Nevertheless, we did perform well in certain aspects, and, most importantly, we worked as a team."

Darren hopes to also start against Korea, led by 12 European-based players.
