KDA FC Players: 'Help us, the banks are after us'

KUALA LUMPUR: All is not well for the players of Kedah Darul Aman (KDA FC) after it was revealed that they are in dire straits after not receiving their salaries for months.

"The banks call (us) almost every day, how are we supposed to pay what is owed when we have not received our salaries," a source told Harian Metro.

This was just the tip of the iceberg on the KDA FC' players disappointment and frustration as they continue waiting for their salaries, which is into the fourth month now.

According to the source, the management had remained silent and did not provide any response regarding the salary arrears.

There are some players who are able to survive thanks to savings in order to put food on the table and managed their financial commitments, he said.

"We can only respond by saying that we will pay by a certain date, just like how our employer has previously said that the issue will be resolved very soon.

"Banks have a payment period where what is due and owed must be paid up, if not then the bank will issue notices, but then how are supposed to pay up when we don't have any money to do so?

"In fact, there are those among us who have had no other choice but to depend on and use whatever little savings that we have to see to our debts and financial commitments in order to avoid having to face even more trouble later on," said the source.

The issue has caused the players sleepless nights, especially those with families to support, he said.

Meanwhile checks by Arena Metro found that the Under-23 players are also facing the same dire situation where the issue of salary arrears owed has disrupted their lives so much so they are unable to make payments for the monthly financial commitments.

"We have not received any latest updates from the management.

"Last time the CEO spoke about the issue of our salaries, he only touched on the Super League team and President's Cup side, but he said nothing about the Under-23 team when we too have not received what is owed to us," said a player.

It was reported that there was a salary areas crisis involving KDA FC where there was no solution in sight, where the situation was getting from bad to worse.

Former KDA FC coach Azraai Khor Abdullah expressed hope that the club's owner Tan Sri Dr Mohd Daud Bakar will step up and immediately explain the real situation as to what happened and not just remain silent.
