KUALA LUMPUR: Super League side Kedah are proud of their former player, Mahmoud Al-Mardi, who helped Jordan beat favourties South Korea 2-0 on Tuesday in Doha and reach the Asian Cup final.
The 30-year-old midfielder still has a soft spot for Kedah as his Facebook page has a profile picture of him wearing Kedah's jersey.
Meanwhile Kedah congratulated Mahmoud for his historic achievement with the Jordan national team.
"Congratulations to Mahmoud Al-Mardi who reached the final of the Asian Cup with Jordan for the first time," read Kedah's FB post.
"Mahmoud Al-Mardi is certainly missed by Kedah fans. He showed his prowess in the Asian Cup, including his trademark curved strike, to beat Malaysia in the Group E opener.
"Mahmoud represented Kedah in 2022, coming in mid-season and helping the team to reach the AFC Cup, Asean zone semi-final. Congratulations, Pulun Mardi Pulun in the final."
