Current Devils are so bad that Yorke won't want them in his team

KUALA LUMPUR: The current Manchester United team are so bad that none of the players is worthy for the "Battle of the Reds" at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil this Saturday.

That was Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke's brutal opinion of Erik ten Hag's much-criticised current team.

The "Battle of the Reds" exhibition match involves former Manchester United and former Liverpool stars that used to rule the Premier League.

The present Manchester United team are no longer "top four" material in the Premier League and last Sunday, Malaysian fans of the Red Devils were given a fright when they conceded three goals to a second-tier Coventry in the FA Cup semi-finals before surviving a penalty shootout.

"No player (from the present Manchester United team) can join our team because we are better than them," said Yorke during a "Battle of the Reds" press conference in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

"In fact, we believe we can defeat the current United team," added Yorke, the team manager of the Manchester Reds.

So far, fans of Manchester United and Liverpool have snapped up 25,000 tickets for the "Battle of the Reds".

The Manchester Reds consist of captain Teddy Sheringham, David May, Wes Brown, Clayton Blackmore, Keith Gillespie, Ben Thornley, Eric Djemba Djemba, Paul Rachubka, Russell Beardsmore, Lee Martin, Danny Webber, Mikael Silvestre, Quinton Fortune, Dimitar Berbatov, Erik Nevland and Dion Dublin.

The Liverpool Reds, who are captained by Spanish legend Luis Garcia, comprise David James, Emile Heskey, Glen Johnson, John Arne Riise, Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer, Steve McManaman, Jason McAteer, Florent Sinama Pongolle, John Durnin, David Thompson, Jermaine Pennant, Djibril Cisse, and Phil Babb.

Meanwhile, former England and Liverpool goalkeeper David James revealed that he has a soft spot for Terengganu.

James said he began to "fall in love" with the Turtles after watching the Malaysian Cup final between the east coast side and Johor Darul Ta'zim at the National Stadium last season.

"I came here last year and watched Terengganu play JDT. Honestly, Terengganu is my favorite team," he said.
