Faisal aching for Super League action following acid attack

KUALA LUMPUR: Though acid-attack victim Faisal Halim is recovering from serious injuries, he can't wait to get back on his feet to play for Selangor again.

The 26-year-old winger is getting restless as Selangor prepare to play Kedah tonight in a Super League match at the MBPJ Stadium.

Faisal, transferred from a hospital's ICU to the general ward recently, has expressed his intention to play football as soon as possible.

"Faisal's passion for the game is unmatched. Even in his current state, his spirit remains unyielding,

"His determination to contribute to Selangor's success this season is truly remarkable," said Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, a director of Selangor FC.

Faisal was splashed with acid by two unknown assailants on May 5 at a shopping centre in Damansara. He suffered fourth-degree burns.

"While we admire Faisal's unwavering spirit, his priority now must be his recovery," said Shahril.

"Only by focusing on his recuperation, can he hope to grace the field once again."
