Nicholas gets clean bill of health for Maekyung challenge

KUALA LUMPUR: After a stomach flu caused him to miss the cut at the China Open last week, Nicholas Fung has been given a clean bill of health to compete in the GS Caltex Maekyung Open Golf Championship starting on Thursday.

"I was not feeling well in China last week and I couldn’t bring my A game to the tournament,” said the Malaysian professional yesterday.

"But that’s all over now and I’m looking forward to a new week here with renewed confidence.”

The 27-year-old recorded his best performance this season when he finished tied 14th in Japan last month.

To make up for lost time, Nicholas aims to excel at the RM3.6 million tournament. He will use his intimate knowledge of the Namseoul Country Club as he guns for his second Asian Tour title.

"It’s not a long golf course but you got to be really accurate and put the ball on the right spot on the greens. Otherwise you’ll be in trouble. If you can putt well, you’ll likely to win the tournament," he said.
