Golfer Kelly leads the nation's charge at the Maybank Championship

KUALA LUMPUR: This year's Maybank Championship, with its ambition of

elevating women's golf in the region and inspiring the next generation of golfers, will see a young and star-studded field of Malaysia's most talented golfers all eager to compete against top players on Oct 26-29.

Among the Malaysian golfing elites ready to take on the challenge are Alyaa Abdul Ghany, Natasha Andrea Oon, and Ashley Lau.

Amateur golfers Ng Jing Xuen and Jeneath Wong will also join the field. Olympian Kelly Tan, who will be teeing off at the prestigious west Concourse of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC), will lead Malaysia's charge. California-based Alyaa is a rising star with impressive victories, including the 2020 Australian Masters of the Amateurs Championship, to show.

Joining her is golf prodigy Jing Xuen who will be making her debut.

At 15, Jing Xuen created history as Malaysia's first gold medalist in the women's individual event at the Phnom Penh Sea Games this year.

With her sights firmly set on turning pro within the next two years, her attendance at this year's LPGA Tour-sanctioned tournament marks a significant

milestone in her career.

Kelly's recent accomplishments include finishing as a runner-up at last year's Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational and winning the 2019 Florida's Natural Charity Classic.

As a seasoned veteran in the field, Kelly is among the golfers to watch in the event.

Tickets are priced at RM38 (day pass --- Thursday and Friday), RM68 (weekend pass --- Saturday and Sunday), and RM88 (season pass --- all four days).
