Speedy Tigresses score first win

KUALA LUMPUR: The Speedy Tigresses beat Thailand 2-0 to register their first win in the women's hockey Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi, India, today.

Nur Shamine Azureen Badusha gave Malaysia the lead in the 25th minute, and Nur Nabila Alia Yussaini scored the other goal in the 52nd at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Hockey Stadium.

Malaysia will face Thailand, who lost all their five round robin matches, again on Saturday in a fifth placing match.

Malaysia lost to Japan (3-0), India (5-0) and Asian Games champions China (4-0) before they held Asian Games silver medallists South Korea to a 1-1 draw earlier.
