Audreylaura denied first One Championship win by Indonesia's Hertati

JAKARTA: Audreylaura Boniface’s hopes of claiming her first One Championship win were dashed on Saturday after she was vanquished by hometown favourite, Priscilla Hertati Lumban Gaol.

It was the second fight of the preliminaries at the Jakarta Convention Centre and it only took Hertati 3 minutes and 23 seconds to bring down Audreylaura by way of technical knockout (TKO - striking) in round one.

“She’s really good at striking. My only regret is that I failed to bring her down to the ground and I should have done that earlier,” said the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, Hertati was driven to tears at a press conference following the match, as her maiden win was not witnessed by her parents, whom she declined to name.

“This is my first win. I feel great, but the thing that makes me feel uneasy is the fact that my parents were not here to watch.

“They have only seen one of my fights and that wasn’t in my professional career with One. My biggest upset in spite of the win is (not having them) be proud of me and watching my fight,” said Hertati, who represented Indonesia in wushu at the 2014 Asian Games.

The first preliminary match of the evening saw Indonesia’s Riski Umar beat compatriot Ego Rozten by TKO in the first round.
