Hafizh does better on second day of testing

KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah showed marked of improvement on his second day of MotoGP testing with Monster Yamaha Tech 3 at Buriram on Saturday.

Hafizh ended the day in 23rd place after clocking a best lap of one minute and 31.998 seconds which was 2.029s adrift of Honda's Marc Marquez. The latter topped the timesheets on 1:29.969s.

The 23-year-old, who finished last on Friday, feels he has good chemistry with the team.

"I was less than 2 seconds off the fastest rider until Marquez did that lap but I feel it is still a good improvement for me," said Hafizh.

"I went on my own and never followed anyone as I wanted to learn as much as I could. The team have given me good feedback and advice, I feel we have a good connection which allows us to explain things better.

"This has helped me improve very quickly. I will continue to take things one step at a time and learn as much as I can tomorrow. There are a lot of electronics on the (MotoGP) bike which I have to understand and get used to."

Hafizh, who spent the last four seasons in Moto2, added that he believes the hard work he puts into physical training over the winter break has helped him handle the transition to the premier class better.

Tech 3 have said they will evaluate Hafizh's performance during testing at Buriram before deciding whether they will be offering him a permanent seat in the team for this season.
