Zulfahmi makes progress at Sepang

KUALA LUMPUR: SIC Racing Team rider Zulfahmi Khairuddin is pleased with the progress he has made after clocking valuable miles over the past three days testing with the team at the Sepang Circuit.

Zulfahmi's first test session with the Moto2 team in Valencia earlier this month was limited due to bad weather. He enjoyed much more riding time at Sepang and managed a fastest lap of two minutes and 8.23 seconds.

“I’m very happy to have had this test here in Malaysia, the weather has been really good and we were able to work on a lot of things," said Zulfahmi.

"I have learnt a lot about the Moto2 bike and have also had a chance to get used to working with the team.

"For this test we have been focusing on the chassis and trying many different things, especially on the front parts of the bike.

"What we have done has really helped me to turn the bike better. I am getting faster on the bike.

"I have a much better feeling compared to the Valencia test, it is a big difference.

"We’ve done a lot of laps and found quite a good pace."

Zulfahmi, who has spent the bulk of his career in Moto 3, was signed as a last minute replacement for Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah who is expected to race in MotoGP this year with Monster Yamaha Tech 3.

The new Moto2 season will begin at the Qatar Motorcycle Grand Prix on March 16-18.
