Hafizh show progress in MotoGP practice session

KUALA LUMPUR: Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah managed marginal improvement in the second free practice session (FP2) on the opening day of the Qatar Motorcycle Grand Prix.

Hafizh clocked one minute and 56.454 seconds under the floodlights of the Losail International Circuit to place 22nd from 24 riders in FP2.

He had earlier today emerged the fastest rookie in FP1 after clocking 1:56.544 (15th).

In Moto2, Khairul Idham Pawi (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) showed marked improvement to place 18th on 2:01.906s after having settled for 24th in FP1 (2:04.370s).

Rookie Zulfahmi Khairuddin (SIC Racing Team) also showed slight progress as his 2:04.357s was good for 30th. He was 31st (2:05.848s) in FP1.

Spaniard Alex Marquez (Marc VDS) was fastest in FP2 after clocking 2:00.932s.

Moto3 rider Adam Norrodin (Petronas Sprinta Racing) achieved a faster 2:07.739s for 20th (FP1 2:09.255s, 18th) while teammate Ayumu Sasaki (Japan), who suffered a minor crash earlier today was 16th after clocking 2:07.443s (FP1 2:09.387s, 21st).

Spaniard Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) topped the timesheets in FP2 with an impressive 2:05.590s.
