Malaysian riders fail to sizzle in Jerez

KUALA LUMPUR: It was another mediocre show from Malaysian riders in Moto2 and Moto3 on the opening day of the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix in Jerez today.

In Moto3, Adam Norrodin settled for 21st in the first free practice (FP1) after clocking one minute and 48.669 seconds, 1.510s behind Del Conca Gresini's Fabio Di Giannantonio who topped the session.

The Petronas Sprinta Racing rider improved in FP2, clocking 1:48.071s for 16th. SIC58 Squadra Corse' Niccolo Antonelli was fastest in FP2 on 1:46.630s.

In Moto2, Idemitsu Honda Team Asia's Khairul Idham Pawi was 13th in FP1 (1:43.570s) and 20th in FP2 (1:43.711s) while rookie Zulfahmi Khairuddin was 33rd in FP1 (1:46.509s) and 31st in FP2 (1:45.284s).

Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) topped the timesheets in FP1 on 1:42.836s while Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) was fastest in FP2 (1:42.537)s.
