Nabil confident ahead of Le Mans

LE MANS: World Endurance Championship (WEC) driver Nabil Jeffri is not reading too much into his team's performance in Friday's qualifying at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Nabil and teammates Weiron Tan and Jazeman Jaafar (car No 37) secured a respectable 20th on the grid in all categories after clocking three minutes and 27.226 seconds.

The time, which Jazeman set in the third and final qualifying session, saw them emerge 10th fastest in the LMP2 category.

They were just 0.126s behind Jackie Chan DC Racing X Jota stablemates Ho Pin Tung, Stephane Richelmi and Gabriel Aubry (car No. 38) who were 19th overall and ninth in LMP2.

Nabil said consistency rather than outright pace is crucial in endurance racing.

"I think we did really well in qualifying, 10th in class is a good result and is above our expectations," said Nabil.

"All of the guys who were in front of us have been here every season for the past three or four years while this is only our first time here.

"Jazeman did a good job to put the car within a tenth of a second of our teammates (Pin Tung, Richelmi, Aubry).

"But the timing for one lap really does not hold that much significance in a 24-hour race.

"We are looking forward to the race tomorrow (Saturday) because we know we have good pace and also have three strong drivers."

The trio made a strong start to their WEC season by coming in third in class at the opening round in Spa Francorchamps, Belgium last month.
