Team manager's disappointment with Moto3 duo turns to delight

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Sprinta Racing team manager Johan Stigefelt is pleased that both his riders, Adam Norrodin and Ayumu Sasaki, heeded the team's advice.

Stigefelt was hugely disappointed with the duo's performance throughout the week in Moto3 at Assen a fortnight ago where Adam and Ayumu finished 21st and 19th respectively.

But he saw good improvement from them at the Sachsenring circuit on Sunday.

Adam came in 11th, which is only his fourth points finish this season, while Ayumu was 10th at the German GP which marked the end of the first-half of the season.

“They listened to our advice and made some good progress during the (practice, qualifying) sessions. They worked hard while riding on their own and that’s one of the most important things to do well and it showed in the race," said Stigefelt.

"It was a very hard fight for everyone throughout, so I’m happy that they could stay at the top and not so far off from the leaders.

"For both Adam and Ayumu, I am pleased that they have taken these positions going into the summer break. It proves that when they work hard during the practice sessions, this is the reward.

"We have to keep working like this after the summer break and also work on improving other points, in particular when it comes to fighting in the race."

Adam is currently 19th in the overall Moto3 standings on 24 points while Ayumu is 21st (23pts).

Johor-born Adam, competing in his third season in the lightweight class, has been tipped to move up to SIC Racing Team’s Moto2 outfit next year if he can show good performance this season.
